The Kenya National Paralympics Committee (KNPC) elections failed to take place as scheduled after registrar of Sports, Rose Wasike poked holes in the exercise saying the gaps could give another group a leeway to contest the outcome.
Wasike said with the absence of other key players like the Cerebral palsy, Kenya Sports Association for the mentally handicapped and the Wheelchair Association of Kenya, the entire exercise could have been a sham that could be contested in a court of law.
She also stated failure of submission of names of presiding officers by the secretary general of the association, Elijah Mwandihi as another loophole.
She insisted the exercise must be presided by a panel of five independent officials and urged the federation to amend their constitution to align with the Sports Act of 2013.
KNPC President Agnes Oluoch promised to address the issues raised by the registrar of Sports before another election is planned.
