Richard Kimnyang who hails from Baringo county speeded to clock 28:58:4 claiming the 10km race in the Athletes Kenya(AK) cross country series, fourth edition wnich was held on Saturday at the Kisii golf course.
Speaking to the press after winning he attributed his victory to good climate in the region.
“Am happy for winning this race , the climate has been good ” he said
Davies kiplagat who trains at sigweti managed to be second for taking 29:02:4 as he targets a world cross country title.
“The season has not been bad but I have laid out my plans for next month’s trials. I am targeting to win the senior title at the world cross country competitions,” Kiplagat said.
“I believe it is good to adhere to training schedule as it helps in strengthening starting and finishing pace,” he said.
Gilbert Kimyaa 29:04:8 took position three with Elvis Cheboi -29:16:4 being satisfied at position four.
In 10km senior Women category, Josephine Chelagat from Kericho topped by taking 34:01:9 followed by Magret Wangare 34:02:2 and Quallyne Kiprob 34:15:5 was third.
Josephine who collapsed for an hour after crossing the finishing line said she had not familiarized with hilly places something that said she will start training on.
“Am used to flat fields and when I reached this place I knew it will be a tough test” she said.
In 8,000km junior men Cleophas Kandie registered 23:04:6 to win the race while Duncan kiprotich23:09:3 followed closely at the second position..
In junior women Janet Chepkoech-19:36:7 speeded to emerge the winner as Jane Ghati-19:42:0 was second. Vanis Cherono-19:46:2 was third.
Winfred Bithet, Mirian Cherop, Lenard Bett and Benard all from Bomet team won in the mixed relay while Emily Cherotich, Elgar Laliana,Gilbert Kwemo and Wilberforce Kones of Police team were second.
Attending the event were the 400m world champion Charles Asati and AK representative and also world 1,500m champion Milkah Chemosi.
Nyanza South AK chairperson Peter Angwenyi hinted that the county may host the national cross country in 2020 after this year event at Eldoret
